In our new series of posts we will introduce you to the faces behind magnalister one by one: From development to design, marketing and customer service to management, you’ll get to know many members of our dynamic team.
Let’s continue today with Max. He works for magnalister as a freelance copywriter, while his main job is flying around the world as a long-haul pilot. That’s why he appreciates the freedom and flexibility that magnalister gives him in his work.
All questions we asked Sebastian as part of his introduction as well as his interesting answers can be found here:
1. What are your responsibilities at magnalister?
A few years ago, I started at magnalister as a freelancer in online marketing. Today, I’m almost exclusively responsible for creating text content – from website articles and landing pages to blog posts and social media.
2. What did you do before you came to us?
Since I’m only a part-time copywriter at magnalister, the question should actually be posed differently. I’ll try anyway: When I started at magnalister, I had just finished my business studies in Frankfurt. I then spent two years training to become a pilot, and today I fly long-haul around the world. Along the way, I have always written – sometimes more, sometimes less intensively – for magnalister. Especially during longer waiting periods in training a first-class pastime!
3. What do you like most about magnalister?
The freedom and trust that are placed in you and make creative work like copywriting much easier. In addition, I enjoy great flexibility when it comes to my working hours: Whenever it’s necessary, I can concentrate fully on my main job – that’s also very important to me. Apart from that, I’m a big fan of the entire team with its really flat hierarchies that give everyone enough room to develop. The office in Berlin is a real eye-catcher – unfortunately I’m here far too rarely.
4. There are also stressful days at work: What do you do in your free time and how do you recharge your batteries?
My greatest balance to work is sports. But let’s not kid ourselves: Of course, I also like to relax on the couch with a good series. Otherwise, I love to go out to eat and do a lot with my friends and my girlfriend.
5. Do you have a life motto or mantra?
No quote or anything along those lines. Personally, though, I’m a fan of people who set themselves high goals and always want to get the maximum out of themselves – however you define that for yourself. That’s what I try to do as well, even if there’s still a lot of room for improvement in one place or another, of course.
6. What does a perfect lunch break look like for you?
I rarely have classic lunch breaks. When I do, I usually meet up with friends for lunch – usually Asian.
7. What do you look forward to most after a long day at work?
When I’m traveling, I definitely look forward to sleep. At home, I would say the “Netflix Chime”.
8. What’s your favorite snack at your desk?
Actually, everything I can get my hands on. Currently I drink (or eat?!) a lot of yfood – it’s convenient and saves time.
9. Do you listen to music at work? If so: what direction, at what volume, and why?
Now and then. Depends a lot on the complexity of the content I’m writing. The music then really goes from A-Z, but I have identified a strange pattern: a preference for live performances, which I mostly listen to via YouTube.
10. Do you have a special talent? If yes: Which one?
I think I’m a good learner, which is why I can get to grips with new tasks and situations very quickly. Apart from that, I can certainly eat more than people give me credit for at first glance.
11. Why did you choose magnalister as your employer?
Through flying, I got to know the two managing directors Peter and Semira in the USA. We got along great right from the start and kept in close contact. At some point, one thing led to another, without me really having to “decide”.
