Product Upload: Automatic upload to Etsy and efficient product preparation

The product upload is a basic feature of the Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 Etsy integration. Optionally, you can use it to upload individual products or entire categories. You can also customize product information before uploading. For example, you can edit product titles and descriptions as well as add product images.

The upload from Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 via magnalister takes place in two simple steps:

  • Preparing the store products for upload
  • Uploading the products

1. Product preparation

There are two ways to prepare new products:

  • Request a new listing of the product in the catalog of the platform – including matching of product attributes
  • Matching products with existing products in the catalog of the platform – product matching

Listing of existing products is facilitated through product matching. In this process, magnalister matches the products in the upload with products on the online platform. The recognition works with the help of a unique identification number (GTIN, EAN, UPC, ISBN, MPN). If a product matches an item that already exists on the marketplace, content such as product title, product features and product description can be taken from the catalog. Attribute matching is explained in the following section. This also simplifies many things for online retailers. Once the product preparation is complete, you will save the changes in magnalister.

Then follows the second step.

2. Product upload

If all the details of the prepared products are correct, they will be displayed in the “Upload” tab. Here you can also see the most important info, such as prices, stock levels and the selected type of preparation. Now you select the corresponding items and upload them to the appropriate online marketplace with just one click. You also decide whether you upload many items at once, entire categories or individual items.

Attribute matching: Match product features and variations with Etsy

When preparing and uploading from the Adobe Commerce store system, attribute matching can save a lot of time. How does it work? In a few words: As early as during product preparation, product attributes and variations are created in the correct format – i.e. the format that is also required by the respective marketplace.

This may sound trivial at first. But it often relates to an unpleasant pain point of online merchants: Many errors can occur during upload if product attributes such as “size” or “color” do not precisely match the formats of the respective online marketplaces. What follows is often exhausting troubleshooting. Thanks to the attribute matching feature in magnalister you can ensure that the attribute formats are correct, which means that troubleshooting is no longer necessary. “Your products were successfully submitted” – who doesn’t like to read this message?

The correct assignment of product variations and attributes is important for other reasons as well. It can improve visibility on online marketplaces like Etsy. Customers increasingly use the filter function when searching. This in turn filters the catalog on the basis of product attributes. Only items with correct attributes will then be displayed. This means that products can only be found via the filter feature if the attributes have been specified correctly. If a customer now searches for the green 5-person tent of your brand via the filters and you have stored this product with the correct attributes, he/she will find the item.

Price synchronization: General or individual price adjustment

If desired, you can automatically synchronize prices between your Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce online store and Etsy as well as other integrated marketplaces. You can sync prices based on the value stored in your webshop and for all marketplaces. Alternatively, it is possible to set different prices for the different marketplaces.

Price or customer groups can help to adjust prices directly from Magento 2, which allows you to define, for example, percentage as well as fixed price markups or reductions per each marketplace.

Inventory synchronization: Update and synchronize inventory with the Etsy Magento 2 integration

Keeping store inventory up to date at all times is easy, with the magnalister inventory feature. It automatically reconciles the stock levels with the connected marketplaces. How does inventory synchronization work? With the help of the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU), which identifies each product. The feature reads the SKU during order import. Now, when the SKU of products in magnalister matches the imported SKU, the stock level automatically decreases.

Also helpful: The “Inactive items” feature allows you to pause the sale of an item for a marketplace. In your online store (or multiple webshops) you can continue to offer it at the same time.

Automatic order import: Import and manage orders easily from Etsy

With this feature you can automatically import orders from Etsy into your Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 system. This also stores information like shipping and payment methods for each order.

Order status matching: Synchronize the order status between Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 and Etsy
